Fun & friendly salsa in Wokingham!
Turns and spins workshop - An alternative reminder!
If I had known the pain I’d be in
I would never have wanted to turn, or to spin.
“You won't get dizzy” that’s what they said.
As long as you “spot” with a whip of the head.
Look at your partner or look at the wall.
We’ll have you spinning in no time at all.
When you want to spin right, make sure that your prep,
Is done before your 1 2 3 step.
For a left hand spin it’s quite the reverse.
It’s before 567, you’ll have to rehearse.
Spinning around is not easy to learn.
Using your shoulders will help you to turn.
Bend your knees and keep it low.
Don’t push off, around you go.
Try to fit in as many spins as you can.
Practice to Havana City, by Los Van Van.
Now ladies remember when trying to learn.
It’s reverse C signal for a double turn.
Keep your arms in play, with one at right angle.
Essential or you will end up in a tangle.
One other thing, I forgot to mention.
Make sure that you give your guy enough tension.
Now guys keep your steps quite small and compact.
Give your lady clear leads, she’ll have time to react.
With forearm over her head, it’s push not stir.
Then a small back step, don’t overbalance her.
Oh and if you find turning twice is too much trouble.
Do it the easy way, a “Cheaty Guys Double".
Aim for straight lines with turns on the travel.
Then reverse the move, make sure you unravel.
If getting it right is your intent.
Remember, “Practice makes permanent”
Perfection in salsa is now something you’ve tasted.
“A day without dancing is a day wasted”.
We couldn't have put it better ourselves...!! E,S&H :-)
